| The A+LS
Reading & Literature curriculum is composed of 9 well-rounded,
courses that are directed at grades 1 - 8 and the secondary level.
The A+LS Reading series reinforces vocabulary, grammar, and
language skills and then focuses on comprehension skills. Reading
comprehension features units that stress recognition of main ideas,
point of view, fact and opinion, gathering information, and authors
purpose in writing. A special feature of the reading titles is the
use of pop up reading selections that can be opened and
closed by the student as needed. |

The A+LS Reading Series also examines literature in many different
forms such as the autobiography, poetry, fables, folktales, short stories
and novels. Students discover historical and science fiction, examples of
newspaper writing, as well as mysteries. This series is designed to encourage
students to recognize relationships in p
rinted text and to ensure that they
develop skills in the recognition and use of words in practical, everyday
situations. The desired end result of this series is a student who has a
deep appreciation for literature and reading. |
