The A+LS Social
Sciences curriculum develops the facet of students knowledge
that helps them understand who they are, where their ancestors came
from, how they got where they are, and why current and past events
are important to them. Contained in this group are six Social Science
titles and nine Social Studies titles for grades 1-12.
The Social Science titles for grades 1 through 5 are designed to introduce
and reinforce concepts and content in the subject areas of Geography,
World History, American History, Civics, Economics, Anthropology,
and Sociology.

Each of the five Social Science titles contains numerous graphics and
pictures. In addition, the Social Science I, II, and III lessons are fully
voiced and a cartoon character named Globert serves as a guide for students
throughout the lessons. These lessons are presented in a storybook format
that provides a sense of realism for the students.
The Social Science I-V lessons enable the teacher to design a flexible
core curriculum that addresses the requirements of national, state, and
local social science standards and will help provide a solid social science
foundation for the students as they transition into midlevel and high
school grades. The areas of Geography, American History, World History,
and Social Science are covered in each of the five available titles. The
Mid-Level Social Sciences covers leaders in American democracy, economics,
and the behavioral sciences.
Social Studies is a subject area that promotes the use of both cooperative
and exploratory learning. The detailed maps and charts dynamically illustrate
key concepts. Additionally, these maps and diagrams can be printed for
use in discussion and as take-home study guides for the students. The
titles seamlessly work together to give students a broad view of Social
Studies.
