| This program is designed for students to explore how work is accomplished and demonstrates the mechanical advantage of simple machines. Many problem-solving and discovery opportunities are provided throughout the program. The students venture around the world to explore the modern and ancient applications of each of the six simple machines - the inclined plane (in Egypt), wedge (in France), lever (in Lebanon), screw (in Italy), pulley (in Sicily), and the wheel (in China). Students will learn how different cultures and civilizations adapted and progressed with the use of these simple machines. The program concludes with the students exploring an interactive "Museum of Machines" designed to show ancient tools, animal adaptations, and combinations of simple machines and compound machines. | |||
